Leal Therapeutics is seeking a highly driven Research Associate to join its Preclinical Development / Translational Sciences team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze, in vitro and ex vivo experiments to support discovery and preclinical development of drug candidates
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell and molecular assays (i.e. assessing DNA, RNA, protein, biomarkers)
  • Reproducibly perform molecular experiments in cells or ex vivo tissues to evaluate drug candidates in accordance with appropriate regulatory guidances
  • Document and present results for laboratory notebook, study reports, and cross-functional meetings
  • Contribute to multiple research projects across the portfolio
  • Work closely with internal and external collaborators to ensure studies are executed to meet company goals and timelines and in alignment with regulatory requirements

Education, Experience, and Qualities Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or other relevant scientific discipline with 2+ years additional experience required
  • A minimum of 1 year in industry or preclinical drug development required
  • Experience with aseptic techniques and cell culture required; neuronal culture preferred
  • Experience with bioanalytical method development preferred
  • Experience in CNS disorders, molecular biology, and preclinical models preferred
  • Experience with oligonucleotides preferred
  • Strong organizational skillset with ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Passion for bringing new therapies to serve patients with unmet medical needs
