Leal Therapeutics is seeking a highly driven Scientist to join its Preclinical Development / Translational Sciences team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to support discovery and preclinical development for drug candidates
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell and molecular assays to evaluate drug candidates as needed (including assessing DNA, RNA, protein, and biomarkers in cells or ex vivo tissues)
  • Manage external CROs to design and execute preclinical efficacy studies
  • Document and present results for study reports, conferences, manuscripts, and regulatory submissions
  • Work closely with internal and external collaborators to ensure studies are executed to meet company goals and timelines and in alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to cross-functional decision-making and execution
  • Contribute to strategy and development plans for translation from discovery to the clinic
  • Train and mentor junior scientists and research associates

Education, Experience, and Qualities Required:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 3+ years additional experience required
  • A minimum of 2 years in industry or preclinical drug development required
  • Experience in CNS disorders, molecular biology, and preclinical models required
  • Experience with oligonucleotides preferred
  • Strong organizational skillset with ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Passion for bringing new therapies to serve patients with unmet medical needs
