Leal Therapeutics is seeking a highly driven Director of Preclinical Development to join its Translational Sciences team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute on preclinical plan to bring CNS therapeutics to IND
  • Provide scientific guidance and develop strategy for lead programs and pipeline
  • Lead and manage a scientific research team composed of Ph.D. and non-Ph.D. scientists
  • Manage external CROs to design and execute preclinical efficacy studies
  • Document and present results for study reports, conferences, and manuscripts
  • Author preclinical sections for regulatory submissions
  • Oversee internal lab operations and experiments
  • Train and mentor scientists and research associates
  • Contribute to cross-functional decision-making and execution
  • Contribute to strategy and development plans for translation from discovery to the clinic

Education, Experience, and Qualities Required:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 5+ years additional experience required

  • A minimum for 3 years in industry or preclinical drug development required

  • Experience in CNS disorders, molecular biology, and preclinical molecules required

  • Experience with oligonucleotides preferred

  • Strong organizational skillset with ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Passion for bringing new therapies to serve patients with unmet medical needs
